On Armenian Issues
Representing Michigan’s 9th District, the home to a large Armenian population (approximately 4,000), Joe Knollenberg has been a staunch advocate for the Armenian community as well as a reliable friend in Congress. Since 2001, Joe has chaired the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues and as a senior member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on State and Foreign Operations, Congressman Knollenberg is in a unique position to directly impact the international assistance Armenia receives. Since 1993, Armenia has received more than $1.5 billion in economic and military aid from the United States. This funding helps Armenia to modernize and expand both their economy and security in order to better compete in our global economy.
Joe, serving on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, was one of the six Members to introduce H. Res 106 on January 30, 2007. Throughout the discussion process and during the vote, Joe’s support for the bill was constant and unwavering.
For all of Congressman Knollenberg’s hard work on behalf of Armenian issues, ARMENPAC is proud to recognize him as our first “Member of the Month.”
